Climate Change :
In today’s industrialized society, the constantly changing climate has become a matter of concern. The way the population is increasing, the pressure on Earth in the coming days is undoubtedly going to increase critically. The continuing change in climate across the world is posing threat to our environment and society with no clear remedy. It has caused global warming. The primary driver of global warming is human activities.
The burning of fossil fuels and natural gas for producing energy and the extensive amount of deforestation, industrial processes release the green house gasses like Carbon dioxide(CO2),Methane(CH4)etc in the atmosphere with an alarming rate.
This green house gases lock the outgoing heat
In the atmosphere which causes the rise in temperature that is very injurious for the mankind.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reports that the planet’s avarage surface temperature has increased by 1.2 °c since pre-industrial times .
The Rising water :
Climate change is expected to accelerate sea-level rise and the poker ice caps and glaciers are melting at an accelerated rate due to rising temperatures . This contributes to rising sea levels which can lead to the displacement of costal communities and loss of habitat for plants. According to a report of IPCC,by 2030,sea level may rise by 26 cm to 82 cm above current levels. Moreover, due to the climate change, the ice in the Antarctic region is melting rapidly, as a result of which the sea level is increasing, the salinity of the sea is changing, the fresh water is mixing with the sea water due to the melting of the ice, causing changes in the catchment and circulation pattern of the sea.
The impact of global warming on the oceans is multi-dimensional and complex, affecting not only the changes in marine ecosystems but also human livelihoods and the global economy. Solving this global problem requires reducing carbon emissions, using renewable energy and taking collaborative action at the international level.
